Our opponent in the Europa League won on Sunday 1:0 against Real Zaragoza in the 5th fixture of the Spanish League. The Brazilian striker Diego Costa scored the winning goal after 20 minutes. Atletico played the last 30 min of the game with 10 man as Reyes was sent off after a rash challenge with his arm on Matteo Contini. Despite of this Atletico was clearly the better team on the pitch at all times. Zaragoza hardly got to any chances and will have it very tough this season to avoid relegation.
Line-up Atlético de Madrid:

73 min. Kun Agüero for Forlán

Filipe Luis played his first official minutes of the season, he is a quality left-back as you can see in the video.
Sergio Agüero is coming out of an injury that’s why he only played a few minutes. However he should be relatively fine (60-70 min.) for Thursday. Coach Quique Flores is resting him at the moment. Against Barcelona last weekend he played 50 minutes, a decision the coach regretted after seeing his performance on the pitch. He was then not called up to play against Valencia on Wednesday. The player declared at the end of the week that he now feels match-fit. After losing in the first match of the Europa League, the coach will surely not leave him again on the bench against Leverkusen.
Who could miss the game is Diego Godín. The full-back who had a great World Cup with Uruguay sprained his right knee. In order to not leave his team with 9 players (no substitutions were available at that time) he stayed on the field till the end. This injury could weaken their already fragile defense! Diego Costa also injured himself yesterday, he has a sprained ankle and could be not available to Quique Flores on Thursday.
UPDATE: Godín out for three weeks!!! >>> monsterandcritics.com
