Bayer 04 players with their national teams (12/10/2010-13/10/2010)

Germany won 3-0 in their qualifier against Kazakhstan.  René Adler the only Leverkusen player in the squad took seat on the reserve bench.  The German team leads the table in Group A with  12 points.

Switzerland which had lost the previous 2 qualifying games finally won 3 points by beating Wales 4-1.  Tranquillo Barnetta played from the beginning while Eren Derdiyok was substituted for Alex Frei in the 79th minute.  Both contributed to Swiss victory, Tranquillo by receiving a penalty and Eren by giving an assist for the fourth goal.

Sami Hyypiä and Finland lost their qualifier at home against Hungary.  The winning goal was scored in the 94th minute!  Hyypiä played the whole match and should start thinking about his retirement from the national team.  With 0 points after 3 games it will be difficult for Finland to qualify for this tournament.  His limited energies are better spent with Bayer 04!

The Czech Republic won 2-0 against Liechtenstein with Michal Kadlec playing 90 minutes.  This is the second consecutive victory after an initial loss in the qualifying campaign.

Croatia’s Under-21 lost 3-0 to Spain in the 2nd leg of the playoffs for the European Champions. Spain’s Under-21 therefore advances to the final tournament. Domagoj Vida seems to be fine (substituted due to injury in the 1st leg) as he played the entire match.  However Spain’s Alvaro Dominguez sprained an ankle ligament after a strong tackle by Leverkusen’s defender.

Burak Kaplan scored with his Turkish Under-21 against Belgium.  The friendly was won by 4-1.  In the other Under-21 friendly Nicolai Jørgensen lost with Denmark 3-1 to France (for both friendlies there is no video available).

Jupp Heynckes declared today in Bild that Simon Rolfes will not play from the beginning in Wolfsburg.

One response to “Bayer 04 players with their national teams (12/10/2010-13/10/2010)

  1. I’m sad about finnish defeat after all…
I guess that Rolfes is not going to play because we have better choices in this moment… so I think it’s a good thing.

PS: Italian under-21 –> so bad!
    and Italy-Serbia…. a shame! 😦
