Game Report: DFB Pokal, 1st Round, Dynamo Dresden vs Bayer Leverkusen 4:3

Dynamo Dresden came back from 3-0 behind to earn a stunning victory over Leverkusen after extra time. The visitors appeared well on their way to the DFB Pokal second round early on, as Eren Derdiyok opened the scoring fafter just six minutes, and Sidney Sam doubled their advantage in the 12th.

Five minutes into the second half, Andre Schurrle cut into the box and curled a lovely effort inside the far post to make it 3-0, but the Champions League hopefuls imploded in the final quarter of the match. Sebastian Schuppan pulled one back for Dresden, and Robert Koch (70′, 87′) completed a brace to force extra time.

In the added period, the score remained deadlocked until the 117th minute, when Alexander Schnetzler burst forward on the counterattack, and beat goalkeeper David Yelldell in a one-on-one situation. There was late drama as Schurrle had a chance to equalize in the closing moments, but his effort went wide, and Dresden advanced.
